AI memory is not one universal feature. In ChatGPT, when memory is enabled, the product can retain useful context from chats, files and connected apps to personalize later conversations. The memory summary does not necessarily show every factor that may shape personalization. You can review, edit, delete or disable memory, and Temporary Chat can be used when you do not want a conversation to create new memory. Deleting a chat and deleting a saved memory are separate actions, so privacy controls matter more than assuming the system “forgets” automatically.
